brazilian jiu-jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art with clear objectives. These are to bring the fight to the ground, gain a dominant position and to finish the fight while taking and giving as little damage as possible. BJJ can be taught as a self-defense system, as a sport or as a major component to competitive fighting such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Our focus on control makes our program very desirable to law enforcement, men, women and children. Triumph provides the most authentic BJJ in New Hampshire with an extremely close lineage to the art's founder.  Our program is run by 3rd degree Black Belt Professor John Fain under Roberto Maia (6th degree Black Belt) under Carlos Gracie Jr.

BJJ and NO-GI CLASSES

Fundamental BJJ: These classes are designed specifically for students new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In particular, these classes focus on the Concepts, Objectives and Strategy from each position. Students can expect to get constant feedback and direction. These classes are the fastest path to Blue Belt and a long safe and successful BJJ journey.

All Levels BJJ: These classes are taught using the Fundamental curriculum but the pace is a little faster. Students from White to Black Belt frequently attend these classes.

Advanced BJJ: These classes are for students with a Blue Belt or higher. These classes go beyond the fundamentals and primarily focus on transitions and finishes.

BJJ Transitions: These classes are for students of all skill levels. Students will participate in one and two minute partner drills for the duration of the class. These are progression drills where we focus on one transition for the first round, two transition for the second round and so on. We continue chaining together transitions until the class ends. These are low impact, slow moving but a consistent pace from start to finish.

BJJ Situational Training: These classes are for students of all skill levels. Each class focuses on a specific scenario where both top and bottom players have strict objectives. Students bridge concept to practice through success while facing gradual increases in resistance.

All Levels No-Gi: These classes are for students of all skill levels. These classes focus on applying BJJ techniques when we don’t have the use of a gi to grab onto. Students typically wear shorts, spats and a tee shirt or rashguard to class.
