getting started

If you are new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you may come try out any of our Beginner or All-Level classes. Students must be ranked blue belt or higher to attend advanced classes. In no gi classes, students typically wear either spandex pants/shorts or board shorts and a rash guard or fitted t shirt. Please avoid wearing clothing with pockets as fingers or toes may become tangled in them, leading to injuries. A jiu jitsu gi (AKA ‘kimono') is standard attire for gi classes. Although the academy does not require students to wear a specific brand, we recommend Fuji Sport. The easiest way to purchase a gi is over the internet. If you are just starting out, you may wear no gi apparel to a gi class; however, you should order a gi as soon as possible. In both gi and no gi, it is important to wear appropriate undergarments.
